Another Weekend May Be Lost

Here I sit at the hospital not sleeping. My daughter's new daughter is undergoing an operation today. I've been working at night this week and, after my 12.5 hour day, drove home to pick up my wife and now I am fighting unconsciousness staying here and not at home sleeping. What a lovely day.

Again?

Here I sit at the hospital where we came after I took my wife to the doctor. My daughter just had her baby and it was taken to intensive care. The prospects don't look good this week as far as football goes. Now it's time to sit and wait to see what's going to happen here.

Time's Up

Still gathering information to sort. Computer slow today. No posts. No comment. Ouch.

T-1

Okay, I've got a little bit of time to get started today. If you don't hear from me for a while it's because I had to go do my eight and a half mile mowing before I had anything ready to post. The next post you see will be the official inauguration of the new season for me.

No Surprises Here -Sheesh

I had intended to get a great start on the season. That was before I found out my daddy was having surgery, my wife had to go to the doctor, I had to go to an unscheduled meeting, etc. By the time I got to this, it was time to go to bed so I can get up early in the morning and get back to work not doing football. I have started gathering information on my work page but there's nothing quite ready to post yet. To start with, I'm gathering all the ratings from every sports page, putting it into a complete form, then posting all the relevant information to its respective page. When I do get something finished I will start posting. No promises before next Friday, though. Good night.

Moving into the Future

My first post acquainted you with last season. The second with all seasons. And now the third one will prepare you for the upcoming season: Kenneth Massey's College Football Ranking Comparison. There you can watch the next season's expected team ranking to materialize as the season approaches. He finishes the season with more than 100 different computer ratings and rankings. Last season's final results are still posted at the moment but when the giant awakes he will start gathering active systems to create the pre-season ranking.

Let Us Know When your Ranking is Ready!

I will be telling everyone when I find rankings and ratings that are active for the new season. Don't wait, though. Post them right here and I will make your open house public.

Four More Days

That's how long it will be until I start updating David Wilson's College Football Rankings and Ratings for the new season. I will be posting very interesting pages until then that you should know about. Once I get going I will post all sorts of interesting pages about football and other sports.

All the Games ... Ever!

Many of the ratings and rankings you see have the same source in their histories ranking teams many decades ago. That source is James Howell who has collected every college football score possible back to 1869. Do you know how your favorite team did the year you were born? You can find out here.

Let's Get It Started with Clyde Berryman

I haven't had time to update anything yet but I want to bring some ratings to your attention that many of you have never really noticed. Clyde Berryman has a perspective that it ain't over till it's over. Therefore he never posts his ratings until it's over. When all the dust has settled, Clyde tallies up all the games and tells you how well they did. So when you start getting football fever, visit Clyde's ratings to refresh your memory of the previous season. He also posts the Top 100 Teams Since 1920. And each season at the end he adds a new team to his QPRS Champions Since 1920. You can see all these at David's site. So go stare at his ratings for a while and feel the tension gradually go away.

Ready to Go; Out of Time

I had some trouble with a few things but I'm ready to go. Watch for a few things this week and next weekend I will accelerate things. I have a heavy schedule from Sunday to Thursday, so Friday should be the first fun day.

The Opening Weekend Approacheth

Not football, of course, but the weekend when I will start going through the ratings and keeping you updated on what's new, interesting, and back. I've decided to make that particular weekend my starting point.

Keep your eyes open because this blog is about to start the new season.

Current Planned Projects

1. Link Jon Rogers' NCAA Basketball page
2. Correct links on master page - that will take a while
3. Get links from Jon's page
4. Make new pages from master page

That's going to take some time.

Began The Fun Today

I checked all the links on our master page and found some to be "lost" or redirected. That I will work to correct after I get Jon Rogers' NCAA Basketball page linked in. My schedule is crazy so I have abandoned giving estimates on when I will have each item finished. Just watch this page and I will tell you after the fact. I am currently working on the index page (College Football Ratings and Rankings). I have made a template out of it but I want to check all the links before I upload it.

College Baseball Ranking News

I can tell you one thing that I saw when I had a brief look at my out-of-control email. Jon Rogers has updated the college baseball page of the directory at this LINK.

Hang In There!

I almost got to work on the directory last week. I'm going to have it ready before football season if it kills me. No, wait, then I'd have to find a replacement. Hey, how would I do that if I'm dead? I think it's bedtime.

Post Your Site

We're still waiting for you raters to get excited about your sites. Anything you have on your site, especially unusual or new thing, should be posted at our ratings site where you advertise your wares. Well? It's HERE!

Updated Directory Pages

Several of the pages have been updated in the off-season. These pages are College Men's Basketball, UFL, NFL, College Football, CFL, and College Baseball. The rest of the site should be updated by the beginning of the football season. More information later.

3,000 and Counting

This blog recently had its 3,000th visitor. Get ready for new posts and pages. Get ready for football. And new pages. And new raters. Ah, the future is great.

Meanwhile ...

The Basketball Superlist is coming to a close with the NCAA Championship coming down. See who it thinks is the best.

Superlist

My first official act of the 2011 Football Season has happened. I sent the one change to David. Eight components will remain but David will be adding the new retrodictive member soon. The real retrodictive winner was the Superlist (per Todd Beck's Prediction Tracker for the second time) but it would make a strange member of itself.

The Next Project

The next page to be posted will be the College Basketball Men's page. Should be up in the next few days for your critique.

UFL Page Posted

The page for the United Football League has been posted. Unfortunately, only my ratings and Joe Kasulis's are there. Joe will be sending me the other links and I hope to have them posted next week.

Jeff Sagarin

Mr. USA Today Ratings Dude's entry has been changed in the NFL and College Football lists. The other sports will be updated as we post the pages. The Kiva site is apparently history along with the Indiana high school boys' and girls' basketball and Women's College Basketball, college soccer, and PGA. I assume he's posting them somewhere else. If anyone knows, please contact me.

Jaakko Suni

His rankings are back and added to the listing.

Another Milestone

The NFL page has been updated with all the active systems. That brings the total to NFL, College Football, College Baseball, and CFL. The other pages are smaller and will be updated in the near future. The NFL page has 46 listings. College football has well over 100. I lost count. CFL has 12, College baseball has 8. Most listings have multiple links. The next pages to be updated in order are the UFL, NCAA Basketball, Auto Racing, Soccer, NCAA Men's Hockey, NBA, NCAA Women's Basketball, Women's NCAA Hockey, and Major League Baseball. Once I get all the pages set up, it will be a matter of updating listings in the various sports by their entries on our master page. This is where we keep sites that have disappeared and put new sites we find.

A Major Milestone

Today I finished the College Football page. All signals are go (to be checked through the season) and all entries are listed. From here I will gather any additional information from the NFL page to add to the master page. The new NFL page will be made from that. After that will be the NCAA Basketball page, then the NASCAR page. From this point the objective is to redo all the current pages. There will also unfortunately be some structural changes but it's for order and usability. See the finished College Football Page.

Things are Starting to Look Good

I have finished the main page down through Ryan Williams. All I lack are David Wilson, John Wobus, Peter Wolfe, and Steve Wrathell. and the four listings at the bottom. Once I finish those I will begin replacing the other pages. It will be smooth sailing through the rest of the overhaul. The signals are updated, too.

Getting Closer to Real Visible Progress

There are 95 green signals, 8 yellows that probably won't show, and 21 entries left to check before the big overhaul of the other pages. Whew! The first pages to be updated will be the College Baseball (already done by Jon Rogers), College Basketball (being assembled by Jon Rogers or me if I get to it first, then maintained by Jon), CFL (already being maintained by Joe Kasulis), the UFL (I don't remember whether or not I've posted this one yet), NFL (Joe Kasulis), and NASCAR (Steve Pugh will maintain this one and possibly others).

Joseph Dise

CPI Ratings has been added to the list.

Jon Rogers

The BCS-Compliant Ranking has been added to this entry.

Update

I've completed the college football page down through Jeff Sagarin.

Signals Updated

I've updated the signals so there are a lot of new ratings. I also made some changes to some entries and am currently working my way down the page from David Rothman.

A New Interview

Jim Ashburn of AtomicFootball.com is doing an interview to be linked from the directory. I'll let you know when it is official.

Got Back Late

Well, I didn't get anything done on the directory as I had one less day off. We got back late from town and now it's way past my bedtime. Oh, well, my next day off will be three or four days away.

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Master Page Check

I checked the master page with all the links. I've completed the first 25 screens and have six to go. In comparison, the college football links page only has four screens of links.

Catching Up

I am officially four hours and forty-five minutes behind my goal, now. That means I should have been finished with the college football page and the NFL page and working somewhere beyond that. I will conquer.

Sites and Signals Update

The list is now checked and signaled down through David Rothman. Some links were added, a few on David including my interview with him.

Signals Updated

All the signals have been updated as far as the directory has been updated. This was a big week for initial updates. Most of the last initial updates will happen next week. Some of the entries that appear to be valid but are not will become evident in the next few weeks and will be removed. Rating sports has a high turnover rate. You have to be in love with it.

Update

The College Football Page has been updated through Eddie Pettis.

Sonny Moore Updated

The entry for Sonny Moore's Computer Power Ratings has been updated to his new site.

Sunday, September 26, 2010

New Signals

Signals are updated from Sonny Moore through Kent Novick.

Disruption

Just as I was getting into this project my boss called me to come in six hours early. I will finish this hour and may have time to work some more later.

Pat Laffaye

Pat now has two systems. The description has been updated on the Round Robin Winning Percentage. The new one is the Expected Winning Percentage.

Sonny Moore

Sonny is psychic. His link was the next one to be updated and he sent me the information for his new web site. It's active and updated.

A Little More Time

I'm sitting at home with a pulled muscle. I woke up with it yesterday and went ahead to work. The first trip was normal but on the second one the pull got worse and proceeded to worsen throughout the day. I'm trying to avoid using it so I'm sitting in a comfortable chair with my laptop. It took about five minutes to figure out how to get out of bed this morning. I had to slide my foot toward me, then turn to my right carefully and put my hand on the floor. That gave me some leverage and thirty seconds later I was standing tall. I also have a drinking problem. It's not as bad standing up as sitting in a chair but it requires using my pulled muscle. I'm going to buy some straws. Today I will get a little further down the list as my muscle allows.

Progress Update

I'm about two-thirds of the way down the main page. Last entry finished was Justin Moore. All signals up to date to there.

Signals Updated

The signals have been updated and there are a few new ratings to view. http://www.nutshellsports.com/wilson/
